Planted a century ago by Colonel Loder, a famous gardener and plant hunter, today it is the second generation of the Boscawen family that preserves this woodland garden, some 27 acres of rare plants, trees, shrubs, streams and pools. In spring, it is noted for its rhododendrons, azaleas, acers and English bluebells.
